Siemens scoops Southern England Excellence Award 2009

Traffic technology company Siemens Mobility, Traffic Solutions based in Poole, has been awarded the 2009 Southern England Excellence Award from the British Quality Foundation.
Accepting the award, Managing Director, Gordon Wakeford, said: We have been using the excellence model since 2006 as an annual business health check. Just to become finalists in this prestigious event was good enough but to win on our first entry into the awards is exceptional.

The Excellence Awards measure business performance improvement against Europe's most widely used management framework, the EFQM Excellence Model. The assessment team from the British Quality Foundation visited Traffic Solutions locations earlier in the year to carry out a detailed evaluation of the companys national operations.

Widely acknowledged as UK market leader in the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of traffic technologies and systems, Siemens achieved a substantial increase in the overall EFQM score from the previous assessment in 2008; Its more important than ever if you are a UK manufacturing-based business to be innovative and remaining competitive against intense global competition. EFQM benchmarking helps us to do just this, continues Gordon Wakeford.

At its award-winning facility, which is both its headquarters and manufacturing site, the company employs 350 people and it also operates 25 regional offices and depots across the country with a further 450 staff, allowing service to be provided nationally.
