Sika provides solution for new carpark in Melbourne Australia

Sika Products

The landmark $350 million urban development, located in the Inner West suburb of Footscray will incorporate an array of residential and commercial development, shared community spaces, cafes and facilities while showcasing a unique architectural design and sustainable living in a modern inner city environment. Within this development was a multi-story residential building that required a waterproofing and flooring solution for its upper level carpark.

Project Requirements

The multi-story building required a flooring solution for two different levels. While one required crack bridging to protect the tenancies below, both required to be trafficable, hardwearing, non-slip and suitable for a carpark while being aesthetically pleasing and UV resistant.

Sika Solution

Brought in by the main contractor Grocon and by liaising with Able Industrial Floors, whom Sika had worked closely with on previous projects such as AAMI Stadium and the MCG, Sika was able to apply its specially designed car park deck flooring system.

This system offered a complete waterproofing and flooring solution for multiple levels by using a combination of  Sikalastic® 488 & 489, a 3 mm high performance polyurethane trafficable membrane system and Sika’s flooring system made up of Sikafloor® 160 & 264T.
