Simon Fogg wins Ernest Davies Award

Simon Fogg is the winner of the prestigious Ernest Davies Award for his article The Invisibility Cloak of Parking . The winner was announced at the 2011 Members Dinner last Wednesday, where BPA President Paul Necus presented Simon with his trophy and congratulations.
Named after a founder member of the British Parking Association, the Ernest Davies Award has been called the Pulitzer prize of parking journalism. It is the only award in the parking industry to be given for writing. Ernest Davies (1902-1991) was a noted journalist, MP, junior foreign minister and past president of the BPA. The first Award was made fourteen years ago and was given toTina Rust of Norwich City Council.
The winning article was first published in the BPAs Parking News in February 2011 and judges felt Simons article ably demonstrated that it is a worthy and distinguished addition to the pantheon of past award winners.
The competition was of a high standard this year with Parking in Context" by Austen Hunter and Time to roll out congestion charging and road tolls" by Gavin Reddin also making the shortlist.
