The city of Zug, capital of the Swiss canton has about 28,000 inhabitants. More than 31,000 jobs in Zug produce a high commuting with appropriate search for parking. Because of its location on Lake Zug, the city also has a high tourist value as well. Both facts generate a corresponding search for parking to be directed through a parking guidance system.
The parking guidance system in Zug connects a total of 17 parking facilities. Open parking spaces with single space detection via magnetic field sensors in the system were included as a special feature.
27 dynamic signposts pointing drivers to free parking spaces in the urban area, at 5 locations added to variable messages for event announcements. This signalisation is complemented by static signs.
Particular emphasis was placed in the historic old town on a cityscape compatible, compact version of the signalisation.
The host computer system is located in the parking garage "Altstadt / Casino". It controls and monitors the complete system. The intuitive user interface was created in web technology.
