THP Limited, Inc. which specializes in structural engineering, restoration engineering and waterproofing engineering has added two new parking garages, both located in downtown Columbus, to its portfolio.
With a cumulative price tag of $25 million, the projects add nearly 450,000-square feet and more than 1,400 parking spaces to the citys urban core. These municipal garages were design-build projects constructed in partnership with the project manager Capitol South, architect MoodyNolan Architects, and construction manager Messer Construction Co.
RiverSouthThe addition of the RiverSouth Parking Garage near the new County Courthouse and the existing Lazarus building has been called an encouraging step in bringing people to the core of the city. Located at the corner of Front and Rich streets, this garage adds 770 parking stalls to a bustling urban residential neighborhood. THP provided structural engineering and parking layout/functional design services during the $14 million project, which was completed in late June. In addition, the team included many environmentally-friendly elements, such as recycled concrete, recycled steel, restoration of the historic Lazarus Parking sign, and space for bicycle parking.
Fourth and Elm Parking GarageUpon its completion in spring of 2010, this $11 million parking garage at the corner of Fourth and Elm streets will add 680 parking spaces to a quickly-expanding urban center in the heart of Columbus. THP has used its collective experience to overcome scheduling, construction and technical issues presented by the complex construction site, which is located adjacent to recently completed condominiums. Like the RiverSouth garage, the Fourth and Elm facility features bicycle parking and 95 percent recycled steel and concrete.
THP has designed and restored parking facilities throughout the United States. The firm applies over 30 years of experience and knowledge gained in the assessment, repair and waterproofing of deteriorated parking facilities to the design of new durable garages. The company is recognized for designing garages for long life and minimal maintenance.
