University of Florida Southwest parking garage wins Award of Merit
With structural engineering and parking consulting services from WALTER P MOORE, the University of Florida Southwest Parking Garage has been chosen for the Award of Merit in the International Parking Institutes 2010 Awards for Excellence competition.
The Southwest Parking Garage has 6 levels and 313,000 sq ft for 927 cars, with an attached 2-story 10,000 sq ft transportation and parking services office building. The design/build project, lead by Cummings Construction and PGAL Architects, was completed with a fast-track construction program and utilized Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology. LEED Platinum certification is being sought.
The IPI Awards for Excellence program was created in 1982 by the International Parking Institute to recognize and commend the trend toward parking facilities that are aesthetically appealing as well as functional and to encourage innovation and excellence in parking design and operational creativity.
