Urbiotica’s parking sensors have been installed to regulate the use of parking spots and increases their rotation. Due to our technology, the enforcement agent no longer has to monitor parking spot by spot.
This small French town with a surface area of 32km2 and a population of about 5,500 inhabitants, suffered from traffic congestion due to the deficiency of parking spaces in the city center. The lack of parking near the shopping areas coupled with a significant number of cars occupying the spots for long periods of time, generated discomfort for local merchants and upset citizens.
The local administration decided to limit the parking in the city center to two hours per parking spot. If a car exceeds this time limit the vehicle owner will receive a fine. To successfully implement the system of free and shared parking, it is necessary to regulate the use of parking space. In order to do this, 114 U-Spot sensors were installed in parking spaces. These were accompanied by a complete parking management system and a mobile application to alert the guard of breaches in real time and to guide them to these vehicles.
In an interview with France 3 Midi Pyrenees, Mayor Clément Menet explained that the objective of the project was implemented to avoid having vehicles park in the same parking space for the entire day. He exclaims, “It was a real problem: I could not park in the city center of Vic”.
The mayor and citizens of Vic-en-Bigorre have been interviewed by the French television channel France 3 Midi Pyrenees. You can view testimonials and more information about Urbiotica’s system here:
