VINCI Park Enforce Red Routes in Sandwell

VINCI Park UK is the first parking contractor in England to issue Penalty Charge Notices for Red Route contraventions. Enforcement is conducted in partnership with Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council as part of Sandwell’s first congestion-busting Red Route scheme.
vincipark.gifThe first Red Route in Sandwell was introduced on the A41 Black Country New Road from Junction 1 of the M5 to the Borough’s boundary with Walsall. The scheme centres on red lines to regulate parking, rigorous enforcement, and removing obstructions in order to improve journey times and road safety on one of the borough and the Midland’s busiest highways.

Red routes are ‘no stopping orders’ which means that they can be enforced under the Road Traffic Act 1991 (Sandwell’s parking was decriminalised in 2000). VINCI Park enforce the route by regular mobile patrols. Drivers who ignore the restriction will be issued Penalty Charge Notices for L50 (discounted to L25 if paid within 14 days). Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council provided training for VINCI Park staff to outline the objectives of this scheme prior to its implementation.

Route 51 is the next red route to be implemented and enforced. Route 51 is an important route serving the three West Midland areas of Sandwell, Walsall and Birmingham. This will also include a host of other measures including road improvements and dedicated parking/loading areas for vehicles. Better signing of the car parks will direct people to parking areas located off the main road. Further information on this route is available at www.route51.co.uk.
