VINCI Park to invest 9m in new hospital car park

VINCI Park is to invest 9m in designing, building and managing a new car park for Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
The 1,000 space multi-storey car park will be located at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, with a further 400 space multi-storeycar park at Cheltenham General Hospital planned subject to planning permission.
Building on its work with eleven hospital trusts across the UK and considerable experience with Design, Build, Finance and Operate initiatives (DBFO) within NHS Trusts, the PFI partnership, completed on 29th December 2009, saw VINCI Park take over the management of the existing car parks at both Gloucester and Cheltenham hospitals on 4th January 2010. Following development of the car parks, VINCI Park will manage both sites for the next 30 years.
Building work on the car park will begin in April 2010. Good lighting, the use of colour and clear signage will be integrated to provide ease of use and help create a secure and safe environment.
Amongst other features, the innovative design will also incorporate a series of timber louvre panels, rotated to create a wave effect. This is designed to prevent car headlights from being seen in nearby properties, while also providing natural ventilation, light and surveillance.
To improve speed and ease of payment, VINCI Park will be installing new equipment including new pay on foot machines for visitors and a new smart card system for hospital staff. In addition, a number plate recognition system will be installed to enable staff to pay as they go.
If planning permission is granted, a 400 space car park will be built at Cheltenham Hospital , seeing VINCI Park s investment in the Trust rise to 15m.
