VINCI Park and Orange are launching a mobile application in Caen that makes it easier to park in VINCI Park car parks

VINCI Park and Orange have been working together on the Simplypass project since 2013. The City of Caen, which has been a pioneer in developing NFC (near field communication) in France, has also supported their efforts. This application allows Orange customers of VINCI Park car parks in Caen to forgo the traditional paper parking pass by using a NFC technology-equipped Android smartphone.

A simplified procedure for customers with the Simplypass application

As of 19 January, hourly customers of VINCI Park car parks can use the new paperless permit system instead of their old parking passes.

Customers benefit from a more streamlined experience and no longer have to worry about losing their parking passes.

  1. Download the Simplypass application from Google Play.
  2. Hold up your smartphone to the ticket machine upon entering the car park.
  3. A virtual ticket is created.
  4. When you are ready to leave the car park, hold up your smartphone to the terminal or automatic ticket machine to validate your parking pass.
  5. You can then pay according to the payment method of your choice (cash, credit card, or Liber-T electronic toll collection system).
  6. Hold up your smartphone to the exit terminal and leave the car park.

The terminals and automatic ticket machines can recognise the NFC SIM card even if the phone is locked or out of battery. You can track your use from the mobile application; invoices are created electronically as well.

After this preliminary phase, a payment module will be added to the application so customers can use their smartphones to pay for their parking passes directly.
