Wandsworth Council expands Cashless GSM parking to Battersea Park

Following the success of cashless GSM parking in Putney, this easy and convenient parking system came to Battersea Park on 20 December.
Parkmobile's cashless GSM parking was successfully launched in the UK for the first time in the London Borough of Wandsworth in February this year, with South West Trains following in April introducing this system in Andover and Fleet. In mid-November, Hammersmith & Fulham Council implemented the Parkmobile electronic permit system with the support of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM), followed by Cashless GSM Parking early next year. It is expected that other London boroughs and councils across the country would follow soon.

Recent surveys show that people who have used this service have given it the thumbs-up. A huge majority of the users were most pleased by the system's financial benefits, since they don't overpay anymore and there were no longer incurring penalty charge notices, while almost 90% were most impressed by its convenience and user-friendliness.

Parkmobile's cashless and ticketless parking is also the recent winner of the 2004 CNET Networks Awards' Mobile Product or Initiative of the year - it offers motorists the luxury of parking without searching for coins, or hunting for working pay and display machines, and also ends overpaying and therefore wasting money or getting parking fines or wheel clamps as a result of underpaying. It only takes a short call to activate and deactivate parking transactions from the comfort of a car, office or home, even on the train and there are no extra costs for the motorists. This system has also proven to improve services and generate more income for councils.
