Website to beat city parking woes

A Bristol-based entrepreneur plans to ease the city's parking problems by matching motorists to residents with spare daytime parking spaces.
Tom Page is launching youcanpark.com where empty driveways or garages can be rented on a daily basis. The 18-year-old came up with the idea after realising the number of car parking spaces in the city did not match demand.
Traffic jams cost the city millions in lost working hours, it is estimated.

Mr Page, from Westbury-on-Trym: "I came up with the idea because I used to work in the centre of Bristol and had to leave home in the early hours as spaces fill up so quickly. The National Car Parks are full by 7.30am. There are spaces for 10,000 cars and there are 17,000 cars coming in. But there were empty driveways everywhere so I decided to do something about this and launch the site."

Clients list their parking space for free on the website then, once it is rented, Mr Page will charge 15% commission.

The site is expected to launch on 15 January.
