Ajuntament de Barcelona (Barcelona’s City Council) has decided to trial a pioneering solution that allows tourist coach drivers to get information on parking availability around Sagrada Familia area, in Barcelona (Spain).

The chosen solution for this trial is Fastprk, by Worldsensing, a smart parking system based on electromagnetic sensors installed in each parking bay that detects the occupancy of each space, sending the information to a central management unit. To deliver this information, Fastprk sensors are connected to the IoT network owned by Cellnex Telecom (previously named Abertis), Worldsensing’s partner.

This information is available, in real time and it will be displayed through different panels in Pl. Neruda, Pl Hispanitat and Pl. Gaudí. Drivers will also be able to check these data through a mobile phone app, through a Web App and on the website www.zonabus.cat.

By having information on parking availability, touristic coaches will get faster to the nearest parking space, which will save time while reducing CO2 emissions and traffic in the area.

About Fastprk, by WorldsensingFastprk by Worlsensing

Fastprk is an intelligent parking system helping drivers to find a parking spot quicker and allowing cities to manage their parking spaces more efficiently. By implementing Fastprk, cities become greener and less congested. Fastprk is a smart solution by Worldsensing, founded in 2008 in Barcelona and holding an office in London, which has become a market leader in innovative wireless machine-to-machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. Worldsensing has deployed projects in more than 15 countries, and it was labelled by prestigious “Pike Research” as one of the 17 companies actively shaping the Smart City eco-system
