Validation Tables and Parameters in BOSSCARS

BOSS
CARS is a comprehensive campus parking management software system offering direct, real-time integration with Oraclebased student information systems.  This provides a seamless, automatic flow of up-to-date student information for the parking office.
The highest priority for our developers is eliminating IT headaches when features are added to the software or while installing an upgrade.  The information stored in the system is managed 100% according to unique business rules because BOSSCARS is fully customizable, allowing compatibility with each unique campus.

During upgrades or updates, the successful transfer of data may be of concern.  Using user-defined validation tables and institution specific parameters to the greatest advantage will ensure that every transition is successful and stress-free.

Validation tables apply institution specific business rules to all fields related to campus parking.  For example, Permit Types are used to assign different privileges depending on the customers relationship to the campus.  Permit Zones are used to establish priorities to different lots throughout campus.  Registration hold codes, specific to a campus setting, allow the system administrator to apply business rules affecting a students ability to register for a permit if a hold is placed on their account.  Permit year tables are used to set the start and end dates for a permit according to specific semester start and end dates, not by year or month as municipality parking is generally managed.

Registration and Institution Specific Parameters

Registration in BOSSCARS is based on institution specific parameters defined by the system administrator and can be customized based on user types.  The online experience is unique for each user based on their relationship to the institution as well as their role on campus.  Permits can be assigned based on user type, so customers only view the permits for which they are eligible.  In the parking office, data entry is standardized using data validation and drop-down lists, reducing inaccurate data entry.

Unique Business Rules and Institution Specific Parameters

The institutions preferred verbiage and aesthetics are fully applicable through Institution Specific Parameters.  The online portal is customized for processes including vehicle and permit registration, citation management, and appeal management.  Customized links and text displays are assigned to each user type.

Unique Business Rules and Validation Tables

Validation Tables are used to customize processes according to business rules.  Ticket fees are automated by setting ticket validation dates, late fine percentage, discount percentage, and starting ticket number.  Permit rules such as whether or not multiple vehicles can belong to one permit, or whether multiple persons can hold one permit are specified.  Scofflaw, Boot and Tow, and VIP rules are customizable.  Also, the system administrator determines when, how and if holds are automatically placed on student accounts.

Oracle and BOSSCARS

BOSSCARS was designed for all institutions utilizing Oracle- based Student Information Systems.  Through institution-specific parameters and validation tables, BOSS Software meets the needs of a broad spectrum of higher education institutions, and allows each institution to implement the processes unique to their campus.

Person demographics provided within the Oracle-based Student Information System are utilized to separate students, faculty and staff into as many person-type categories as desired.  Each institution differs in how they prefer to group person types.  Permit types are set by the system administrator, and are made available to specific person types.  This limits the applicable permit types that are available to individual customers.  The parking office may decide that different parking privileges are available for certain class levels, fields of study, resident status, sports, or other relationships with the institution.  By combining person and permit typing, the parking office guarantees proper eligibility is met before a permit is sold, and optimizes the parking experience.

Software Support

Institutions using BOSS Software have complete ownership over their parking management system.  IT headaches are kept to a minimum due to Oracle integration, and the BOSSCARS software system operates in the existing Oracle tables.  Your campus IT department should never have to write an interface to ensure that components of the software suite are compatible with Oracle.
