Role overview
As a Senior Java Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in developing web applications and designing accompanying infrastructure within our broader Merchant Accounting System team. This is a unique opportunity to have a direct impact on the overall strategy as we leverage the latest web technologies and transition legacy applications.
What you will do:
The Senior Java Software Engineer works on a small cross-functional development team designing, building, and maintaining web applications and services on the Java platform. The agile team has a strong customer focus and relies heavily on automated testing to achieve frequent production deployment of quality software.

- Experienced in taking ownership of tasks, commitments, quality, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented team player with a desire to work on a small team and mentor team members when necessary.
- Able to efficiently break down problems and leverage business resources to establish a clear path toward customer value despite the presence of ambiguity.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to communicate intent to other developers through code.
- A solid foundation in software engineering – bachelor’s degree preferred with 3+ years of experience.
- Full-stack Java web development experience including knowledge of common tooling such as Spring and JPA/Hibernate
- Comfort in Linux/UNIX server environments
- Experience working with SQL databases such as MySQL.
- Effective unit, integration, user acceptance testing using libraries like JUnit and Selenium
- Provide outstanding support, including on-call support when necessary.
- Experience with any of the following is a plus: - Building CI pipelines - Designing and building Angular applications - Azure, AWS or other cloud platforms - Container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
