Sri Lanka recently installed their first ever parking meters. This project was initiated by Tenega Car Parks Ltd.
Tenega entered a partnership with the Swedish company Cale Access AB, to install Cale’s CWT Compact parking meters. The CWT Compact is solar-powered and equipped with NFC technology (Near Field Communication). The parking meters have a guaranteed life span of 5 years and because it’s built using stainless steel and aluminium it can stand all kinds of weather conditions.
The parking meters are installed as a pilot project in one street. If the pilot ends successful, the parking meters will extend to other areas as well. In the future, Tenega also hopes to partner with a telecommunication provider to add even more user-friendly and convenient additional services to the parking meters.
