We have had an exciting start to the year, kicking things off with a move to our new office in the center of Maastricht. Has January been a busy month for you? January marked the beginning of our new video segment, Quick Question. Designed to offer insight from industry experts, this month’s Quick Questions focused on parking trends for 2020. Our Parking Network members shared their predictions on how the definition of parking and mobility will evolve, how frictionless parking will become increasingly important, and how cutting-edge products and solutions will drive these trends and others forwards.

Headline Highlights

FlashParking got 2020 off to a flying start with a $60 million investment from L Catterton. The investment will be used to scale FlashParking’s industry-leading extensible, cloud-based parking system. And their newly unveiled Mobility Operating System will power the evolution of isolated parking assets into connected mobility hubs that are more efficient, intelligent, and adaptable than garages and surface lots of the past.

APCOA has completed the acquisition of Swedish parking operator, XPERT Parkering and the 40,000 parking spaces it manages in southern Sweden. And EasyPark has strengthened its position in Spain through the acquisition of E-Park.

ParkVia has announced ambitious plans to evolve its e-commerce platform for 2020 with the addition of voice technology. As more and more people turn to their smart speakers not just to search, but to make purchases, this is a big step in improving the customer experience.

And, in a similar move to create a seamless customer journey, EasyPark has partnered with Parkopedia and Mercedes-Benz to enable drivers to automatically pay for parking from their dashboard.

Movers and Shakers in the Industry

Many Parking Network members welcomed the New Year with new appointments. Orbility and 3C Payment welcomed new CEOs, with Michael Bigby and Tim Goodwin have taken the helm at their respective companies.

Elsewhere, at Scheidt & Bachmann Germany, Pascal Vinken takes on the position of Managing Director, working alongside CEO Ulrich Fleps.

Petra Marita Meiser joins HERE Technologies as CFO in a move set to support the company’s future expansion.

For TagMaster, January heralds the beginning for two parking professionals. Waldemar Batistella brings over 30 years of experience to his new role as Vice President of Operations in North America, whilst Adrian Worgan and Joseph McManus bolster the sales team at TagMaster UK
