Project Management Accountant – 12 Month FTC (Poole, UK)

Location:

Our UK headquarters are based in Poole on the Dorset coast with its bustling quay, some of the best beaches in the UK and a stunning natural harbour. There is easy access to the Dorset countryside, the New Forest and the spectacular Jurassic Coast. Our main office is 1 mile from Poole railway station with good public transport links and close to both Bournemouth and Southampton international airports.

Summary:

We require a Project Management Accountant to cover maternity leave for a one-year fixed-term contract commencing July 2021.

Key Responsibilities:

Project accounting support to project teams (including a focus on specific large projects):

  • working with the Finance department and project teams to provide the latest actual cost information
  • working with project teams to understand the nature of the projects and forecast project completion costs
  • supporting project teams with all financial information to enable them to control their project margins, cash flows and prepare reports to senior management.

Departmental overhead reporting:

  • working with the Finance department and budget owners to prepare departmental reports showing actual costs and variances to budget, reviewing the results with budget owners to assist in cost control.

Supporting Month-End Reporting:

  • preparation of management accounts and reporting to Group.

Required Experience:

  • A track record of senior financial management and control in a project-engineering oriented business.
  • Experience in preparing financial reports.

Required Skills:

  • Good knowledge of contract accounting
  • Good Excel skills
  • Good interpersonal skills to liaise with Finance and project teams
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and prioritising skills, in order to meet the demands of challenging and commercial
  • internal and external clients, as well as dealing with competing priorities
  • Education:
  • Recognised accountancy qualification
  • Part-qualified will also be considered for the right person and experience.
  • Other points:
  • Flexibility over working hours - full or part-time hours considered for the right candidate
  • Home and office based flexibility within business rules
  • Handover ideally to commence for one month in July 2021
  • Training provided on EPICOR ERP system

Reports to:

  • This role will report directly to the Financial Controller, but also to the Finance Director on key projects.
