About the role
Your focus will be to be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all database configuration, updates, maintenance, 2nd/3rd level support (including on-call support rota) and monitoring of ParkMobile MySQL Server platform. Provide expert level advice and assistance to other DBAs, development, solutions architects and management staff.
Provide expert technical knowledge of MySQL and mentoring team members
Advising senior staff and architects on best practice for database design and operation
Maintaining the highest availability and performance of our 24/7 services
Work with developers to assess changes and code quality to minimise the impact of new code on the live environments
Monitoring and tuning of all MySQL databases and instances
Business continuity of the MySQL environment including back-ups and replication
Provide MySQL design and implementation input on software development
Deployment of metadata changes to development, testing, pre-prod and production environments
Patch assessment and deployment to both servers and database instances
Provision of evidence for internal and external audit (PCI & ISO) requirements
Responsible for review and management of security for the MySQL Instances
Maintaining database standards including adhering to the data protection act

At least 4 years as a dedicated MySQL DBA
In depth experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a performant and highly available service
Practical and extensive experience of stored procedures, maintenance and replication
In depth experience in managing MySQL database security
In depth experience in installation and configuration of MySQL
Experience in MySQL Clustering / master – master setup.
In depth experience in MySQL Enterprise Monitoring
Experience in Aurora RDS.
Excellent understanding of database design, sizing and architecture techniques
Extensive experience in performance monitoring, troubleshooting and optimisation
Ability to analyse, understand, design and articulate requirements to team members
Experience in shell scripting
It’s a plus if you have:
Exposure to MS SQL Server and other database technologies
Microsoft Certified in Database Expert streams
Experience supporting a 24/7 service
Large database and Data Warehousing experience
PCI (Payment Card Industry) accreditation processes and requirements
Understanding of GDPR
Use of Files and file groups
