Parking & Transport Services Supervisor (Houston, US)

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6am-3pm

Ideal candidates that have prior experience in parking operations, as a supervisor or similar. Strong customer services skills, cash management, and communications skills are strongly preferred.

Summary 

The purpose of this position is to serve as the supervisor of Parking Operations within Parking & Transportation. Plans, organizes, and manages operational parking activities within the department. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Specific Competencies

Operations Management

  • Plans, organizes, and directs all Parking Operations activities, ensuring customer needs are met within institutional and departmental policies and procedures as well as with state and federal regulations.
  • Manages all facets of the contract for cashier operations.
  • Manages all parking facilities, including space utilization for contract and transient parkers, operational functionality of access and revenue control systems, enforces parking compliance, controls signage, and directs traffic as required.
  • Reviews, researches, develops, and recommends revisions to institutional-wide registration procedures, parking rates and fees, enforcement policies, and programs within Parking & Transportation.
  • Fields and adjudicates complaints from dissatisfied customers.
  • Oversees scheduling and completion of all parking work flow and activities.
  • Communicates and meets with customers to ensure their parking needs are met and to build and maintain relationships.
  • Provides parking staff with the resources to perform their assigned tasks.
  • Develops, tracks, and submits metrics and key performance indicators.
  • Manages operational usage of assigned vehicles and equipment.
  • Informs Manager and Director of operational and personnel issues.
  • Directly supervises all parking/operations assistants, senior parking/operations assistants, and parking attendant positions.
  • Manages contract personnel for the cashier operation.
  • Receives, considers, and approves requests for time off, manages time and attendance for assigned staff.
  • Works with Manager and Human Resources staff to recruit, interview, and hire personnel.
  • Ensures all assigned employees are trained in assigned tasks; trains new employees on operations and procedures; ensures refresher training is provided as needed.
  • Conducts employee feedback, writes performance evalutaions, sets staff goals, coaches staff in professional development, and administers disciplinary actions as appropriate.
  • Personnel Management - Directly supervises all parking/operations assistants, senior parking/operations assistants, and parking attendant positions.
  • Manages contract personnel for the cashier operation.
  • Receives, considers, and approves requests for time off, manages time and attendance for assigned staff.
  • Works with Manager and Human Resources staff to recruit, interview, and hire personnel.

  • Exercises personal leadership in fulfillment of operational responsibilities.
  • Exercises proper judgement, initiative, critical thinking, and thoroughness on assignment.
  • Sets the tone for customer service within the parking function; provides a clear and inspiring vision, solves problems proactively, challenges the status quo and leads parking personnel toward success by example.
  • Maintains composure in stressful situations. Communicates up and down the organizational structure.

Self Adaptability

  • Work in situations involving uncertainity, shifting priorities, and rapid change; deal constructively with mistakes and setbacks; demonstrate flexibility.

Other duties as assigned .

High school diploma or equivalent. Four years of business or project management experience in the transportation, parking, or facilities industry to include two years of supervisory experience. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
