Overview of the Role

We are looking for a Software Engineer to work on both legacy and new software projects. The Engineer would be responsible to help the legacy system through upgrades, maintenance and new feature development depending on the needs of the business. Along with these areas, the engineer will help with the build of the new services in order to help with the future deprecation of the legacy system. New development will include cloud native development in a different language, configuration and management of deployments via CI/CD and Helm. The work will include building API, Services and Front-End elements for both legacy and new systems in different languages with the collaboration of other teams including UI/UX, SRE, and other software engineering teams.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code, preferable Ruby/RoR/JS/Go
  • Integration of data storage solutions may include databases, key-value stores, blob stores, etc.
  • Integration of user-facing elements developed by other engineers with server side logic
  • Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems
  • Help maintain code quality, organization and automatization
  • Help create new microservices for different functionality
  • Help the new services and the legacy system interact and share data as needed
  • Create and maintain configuration files for deployment into infrastructure clusters [Kubernetes]
  • Help develop new processes and procedures to optimize deployments in languages mentioned

Who You Are

  • 3+ years of experience as a Software Engineer and building Enterprise applications
  • 1+ years of experience with Golang preferred
  • Experience with microservices architecture
  • Experience building RESTful APIs
  • Experience with development aiding tools such as Bower, Bundler, Rake, etc
  • Experience with continuous integration tools such as CircleCI/Jenkins
  • Experience with cloud environments such as AWS
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, Istio a plus
  • Experience or understanding of event streaming platforms such as Kafka
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming
  • Good understanding of server-side templating languages
  • Good understanding of server-side CSS preprocessors such as Sass, based on project requirements
  • Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
  • Familiarity with concepts of MVC, Mocking, ORM, and REST
  • A knack for writing clean, readable code
  • Ability to integrate multiple data sources and databases into one system
  • Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
  • Able to create database schemas that represent and support business processes
  • Able to implement automated testing platforms and unit tests
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git
