Parkopedia was founded with the mission of being able to answer any parking question, anywhere in the world. Today, Parkopedia is the world’s leading digital parking services provider used by millions of drivers and organisations such as Apple, TomTom and 20 automotive brands ranging from Audi to Volkswagen.

We are looking for a Senior PHP Developer to be based in London to work on our transaction processing systems which enable drivers around the world to pay for services within their vehicle.

As a result, experience with building systems which process payments, familiarity with Payment Service Providers and a good understanding of the mechanics behind credit card processing is essential. A large part of this role will also involve working closely with third party API providers and building out abstractions over these APIs which are exposed via our own services to clients. This requires a deep understanding of API development and design and how to interface with disparate systems.

Responsibilities

• Senior member of the Client Engineering development team, based in London, supporting a codebase that delivers millions of parking locations daily to a global set of high profile customers
• Liaising with product managers, clients and partners to define solutions and work hand in hand with all stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle.
• The ability to lead development initiatives from idea to production, working alone or as needed with other developers on larger projects.

Requirements

• 4+ years experience with PHP
• Strong knowledge of PHP frameworks (e.g. Symfony/Laravel)
• Understanding of CS principles/concepts (SOLID/OOP/MVC/design patterns/REST APIs)
• Comfortable with networking including protocols, load balancing, performance, debugging APIs.
• Proven track record building payment/credit-card processing systems and interfacing with Payment Service Providers/payment gateways. Experience with developing PSD2/SCA compliant implementations in Europe.
• Understanding of API security, common exploits and secure practices.
• Experience with a SQL based RDBMS (ideally MySQL), developing schemas, query performance tuning.
• Comfortable with your platform, linux, good bash skills, git, your editor of choice
• Other languages such as JavaScript, Golang and experience with Node.js are a bonus.

We are part of a global team but this role is primarily based in our London office (lockdown permitting!), which is a short walk from London Bridge. Parkopedia maintains a flexible policy with regards to location however the role will require a proportion of time to be spent at the London office.
