Summary of Position Functions

The team in Burnaby is responsible for the full cycle of product development for our on and off-street parking products. This includes requirements, design, implementation, validation, manufacturing, and shipping of the products.

We are developing a new product platform as well as the development of a new hardware platform that is based on Yocto Linux and proven open-source technologies. This opportunity provides the chance to be involved in multiple aspects of the architecture, design, and implementation of the new product and hardware platform. We are looking for an embedded developer that possess both design and programming skills with a strong desire to learn and work with new technologies and products.

The development environment will include the Agile Scrum development practices as well as Test-Driven Development and Continuous Integration. The focus of the team is to follow best practice design patterns and development practices to produce a high quality, easily maintainable solution to support T2’s position as the leader in the industry for producing high quality, easy to use parking solution for our customers. This position reports to the Manager, Pay Station Development.

Essential Position Functions

  • Work as a team in an Agile Scrum development environment
  • Design and develop sophisticated products in C / C++ following best practices
  • Develop using modern tools such as TDD, Git, CI and JIRA
  • Perform research, analysis and build prototypes utilizing new concepts and technologies
  • Design, document and implement new architectures, frameworks, and toolchains

Education and Qualifications

  • CE, EE, BSc. In Computer Science or equivalent
  • Experience with C / C++ development
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong problem-solving skills that provide flexible and well thought out solutions

  • Embedded multi-threaded C / C++ programming experience
  • Linux application and library development
  • Linux kernel development
  • Yocto Linux experience
  • Agile Scrum development experience
  • Test-Driven Development experience
  • Skills in OO design and design patterns
