Job Summary

This full-time permanent position is for our Burnaby office. This position is an IT generalist position on our IT Operations team. This position is part of a larger team that is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the four T2 Hosting Environments across North America, our Public Cloud footprint, and our Corporate IT operations. Employees in the IT Administrator position have the unique opportunity to flex their skills and knowledge across multiple technology stacks, end-user, and SaaS-based applications and Datacenter technologies. The ideal candidate for this position enjoys the fast-paced, always changing the environment of operations SaaS provider, while still assisting with the Corporate day in and day out of a classic corporate IT position. In addition to operations duties, this position will also have the opportunity to assist the Infrastructure team on large architectural and engineering projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provides management, maintenance, monitoring, and support for all systems and sites managed by the IT department.
  • Provides computer and network support relating to software and hardware problems reported by internal and external customers.
  • Maintains a positive rapport with internal and external customers concerning their technology needs.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, maintains, installs, and performs testing activities on a wide range of networking equipment, computer equipment, peripherals, data communication, and computer network systems.
  • Independently identifies the need for and creates documentation for end-users and IT-department-internal use including technical, policy, and procedure documentation.
  • Maintains an accurate software and hardware inventory.
  • Prepares and submits vendor warranty claims, parts, and documentation associated with warranty repairs (with authorization from vendors).
  • Maintains and administers all Internet domains and Security Certificates owned by or used by T2.
  • Maintains, and monitors T2 production servers.
  • Ensures that all applicable Internet Standards, Best Practices, and RFC’s are met and that T2 does not intentionally violate any standards that would place our domains in jeopardy.
  • Ensures that all updates and security patches are applied to all servers.
  • Monitors load balance on servers and makes recommendations accordingly.
  • Work with different areas and disciplines of T2’s Software Development Team, including Quality Assurance and Application Development to ensure proper installation and implementation in our Hosting Environment.
  • Travel to the US once or twice per year.

Education and Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree (AA), Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in Computer Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field; and a minimum of two (2) years of related IT experience; or a combination of at least five (5) years of education and related IT experience.
  • At least two (2) years of experience administering Windows Servers required.
  • At least two (2) years of experience administering Linux servers preferred.
  • At least two (2) years of experience setting up and administering high availability solutions.
  • At least two (2) years of experience administering Virtualization Hosts (Hyper-V Preferred).
  • At least (2) years of experience working with enterprise network equipment (Cisco Preferred).
  • Oracle and Microsoft SQL Enterprise experience a strong preference.
  • Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS experience preferred.
  • Experience in regulatory compliance, including PCI-DSS a plus.
  • Working experience troubleshooting and maintaining Active Directory, IIS, Microsoft DNS, Microsoft Windows Server 2008-2019 (including Enterprise and Data Center editions), Docker, Tomcat, and Linux.
  • Router and firewall configuration and maintenance experience.
