City of Lawrence, Mass. Installs 115 LUKE II Multi-Space Parking Pay Stations from Digital Payment Technologies

Digital Payment Technologies, announced the first major deployment of its new LUKE II multi-space parking pay stations in Lawrence, Mass. Standard Parking Corporations SP Plus Municipal Services operating division installed and will also manage and maintain 115 LUKE II units for the city. These high-tech, solar-powered, multilingual pay stations will provide Lawrence with additional revenue, while improving parking turnover and offering a number of features for consumer convenience.
Like many municipalities across the North America, the city of Lawrence is leveraging its parking assets to generate revenue and boost income from operations. Paid parking has the added benefit of increasing parking turnover, which helps local businesses by making it easier for consumers to find open spaces. After a formal RFP process, the city awarded the contract to develop and manage its parking system to Standard Parking Corporations SP Plus Municipal Services operating division. Standard recommended DPTs LUKE II multi-space pay stations for their high satisfaction ratings, and flexibility.

The flexible configuration, convenient payment options, aesthetic appeal and multiple language options makes LUKE II a good fit for the city of Lawrence.

The pay stations operate in a Pay-and-Display (PND) mode, accept coins, credit cards, smart cards, and are solar-powered. Consumers have the option to select English or Spanish instructions on the pay station displays an important feature for Lawrences large Hispanic population.

Cities like Lawrence can benefit tremendously by deploying multi-space parking meters such as LUKE II, especially in an economic climate where other revenue sources are so constrained, said Alan Menezes, vice president of product management and marketing at Digital Payment Technologies. This represents the first major deployment of the LUKE II pay stations, and were confident that Lawrences investment in the technology and services offered by DPT and Standard Parking Corporation will deliver great results for the city.
