Comprehensive Project Management Services for Grupo Aza Investment in Valencia
El Grupo AZA, a logistics services company based in Valencia, has recently started building works for the implementation of a new nine-story building in Valencias Colón Street that will have parking facilities, a public school, a hotel and a shopping area.
From October 2010, SGS Industrial Services has collaborated with Grupo AZA in the design and management of the project, the contracting strategy, the general planning and the projects cost strategy. As a result of the work invested by the team of three in conjunction with Grupo AZA, work began in December for initial preparation of the site construction works and the demolition of the building in Cirilo Amorós Street along with the stabilization of the façade.
The planned construction works includes a nine-story building in Colón Street destined for use by the catering trade, a parking lot with 320 vacancies, a shopping area of 3,500 square meters and, in Cirilo Amorós Street, a public school along the upper floors and terraces over the commercial premises located on the ground floor in the patio area.
The School will span 1,400 square meters of the building and more than 900 square meters of playground area, replacing the existing school and it promises to provide new and better facilities. The building works have an estimated duration of 28 months and completion is expected in 2013.
For SGS Industrial Services, the project involves full use of its considerable expertise, as the new complex is to be located in the center of Valencia, a very old city, so the excavation and demolition works involved in creating a parking lot over four floors requires a great deal of intricate planning and design. SGS also helps Grupo AZA with defining the construction project, including the organization of agencies that will be required on board for the duration of the construction works.
SGS Industrial Services has been furnishing Grupo AZA with the full complement of its Project Management Services, including assuring project quality, organizing internal agents, organizing a coherent strategy with regard to the management of the contracts pertaining to construction works and the development of a Master Plan and an initial Cost Plan. SGSs contribution has been vital in aiding Grupo AZA identify and define project objectives in the investment and SGS fully looks forward to the realization of the project.
