Double county parking contract win for NSL
NSL has won a new contract to provide parking enforcement for Buckinghamshire County Council, and retained its contract with East Sussex County Council.
The new contract with Bucks will cover some of the countys busiest market towns including High Wycombe and Aylesbury and will be expanded into both Chiltern and South Bucks Districts within the next six months. The potential ten-year contract will go live in the Autumn, and has a total contract value of up to 12 million.
NSL previously delivered a parking service for Bucks, up until 2007, which only covered High Wycombe. This was then devolved to a local district council which ran the service in house for two years, before the decision was taken to outsource a county-wide service. NSL regional manager David Sinclair, who was responsible for the previous operation, commented: We are very pleased to have renewed our association with Bucks, and look forward to helping keep the streets safe and traffic moving in towns and urban centres across the county.
Peter Hardy, Cabinet Member for Planning and Transport said: I welcome NSL Ltd as our new Contractor, and look forward to them bringing their expertise to this function to enable the County to address the previously growing deficits in its parking account.
The initial decision to ask the private sector to carry out this activity for us was not an easy one however operating the on street parking services as
a Countywide function through a Contractor offers a level of economy that we could not deliver any other way.
It is our commitment to work with NSL to ensure that on street enforcement is carried out in a consistent, fair but firm manner across all the Districts.
Meanwhile, NSL has retained its contract with East Sussex County Council. The contract, which includes parking management in Eastbourne and Lewes, is for five years with an option to extend to seven, for a potential contract value of over 7.2 million. The new contract goes live next month in Lewes, and in Eastbourne in 12 months time.
James Graydon, NSL regional manager for the South Coast, commented: We have worked with East Sussex for seven years and developed a good understanding of the traffic pressures facing popular towns like Lewes and Eastbourne. I am delighted we will be continuing to deliver the service to the county.
NSL Commercial Director Graham Williams added: Both Buckinghamshire and East Sussex are environmentally and economically diverse, with thriving market towns and contrasting urban and rural areas. Effectively managing traffic and parking in such areas is a complex task but an important one, since properly managed highways are important to help visitors, residents and businesses thrive.
