Finding parking gets easier with new program for municipalities

The GovPark program is the latest project from the company Parking Logistics, based in Ventura, CA. As the number of cars on the road continues to increase, local governments must come up with intelligent solutions to help meet rising demand for parking. says company founder and CEO Shawn Scott. Rather than spending millions of dollars building new parking lots and garages, we are giving municipalities the tools they need to better manage their existing parking infrastructure.

As part of GovPark, individual cities will be able to broadcast real time parking information to drivers both over the web and through a variety of mobile phone applications. According to Scott, the company is also in talks with car and personal navigation device manufacturers to push parking information directly into vehicles.

With the current state of our economy, everyone is looking to cut back every way they can. By directing drivers to available parking, cities can cut down on traffic congestion and reduce CO2 emissions, while saving drivers gas in the process.

The program is set to launch this fall in cities including Ventura, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, and Washington, DC.
