Green Parking Council proudly announces the addition of a new executive director
The Green Parking Council (GPC) recently announced Paul Wessel as its new Executive Director. Mr. Wessels background includes work in both the nonprofit and parking worlds, making him an ideal candidate for the position. A particular focus of Wessels has been capitalizing on underutilized resources, implementing systems-based approaches to productivity and accountability, and nurturing sustainable relationships. This experience will make him an invaluable resource to the GPC going forward.
Board member, Michael Cramer of Winpark, the parking management branch of Hines, said of the appointment I look forward to Pauls involvement in shaping workable and realistic solutions to the challenges posed by implementing sustainability in our parking garages. For solutions to work, they must be viable, and Pauls experience reflects that understanding.
Wessels position as the Director of Traffic and Parking for the city of New Haven, CT gives him insight into the inner workings of the parking industry. During his time as Director, he reorganized and focused the City of New Havens Traffic and Parking Department to increase efficiencies, leading to an increased output of parking enforcement collections by 50% from $2.8 million to $4.3 million under his leadership.
As a member of the Greater New Haven Clean Cities Coalition, environmental responsibility has always been an important value of Pauls. He will combine this personal passion with his professional skills in his position as Executive Director of the Green Parking Council.
