Kathy Phillips Named Chair of National Parking Association's Certification Advisory Board

The National Parking Association (NPA) today announced that Kathy Phillips, CIC, CPP, first vice president of Alliant Insurance Services, Inc., of Thousand Oaks, Calif., has been named chair of its Certification Advisory Board.
The Board is responsible for managing NPA's Certified Parking Professional (CPP) Program, the oldest and most prestigious certification program in the parking industry.

"We are very pleased to have long-time NPA member Kathy Philips lead our certification program," said Christine Banning, CAE, NPA president. "Kathy knows the industry extremely well and will work with the Board to reinforce the value of CPP certification to our membership and industry partners."

Phillips has more than 30 years of experience as an insurance broker specializing in the parking industry. She has extensive experience in risk management, loss control, contract review and claims management specific to the parking industry. She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from California State University, Northridge.

Established in 1993, NPA's certification program has enhanced professionalism in the industry, raised the awareness of the impact and importance of the parking industry, and set the standard for excellence.

Eligible parking professionals participate in a comprehensive exam covering 13 key aspects of parking operations, from safety and security to customer service operations to disaster planning, to finance and valet parking operations.

CPP certification is earned through a formal testing system administered by an independent credentialing organization on NPA's behalf, and is maintained through continuing education and a periodic recertification process. There are more than 500 CPPs worldwide.
