Parking Garage Construction Begins Near Stout Hall

Preparations for the construction of a new parking garage in parking lots 39 and 41, north of Stout Hall will start Monday, March 19th during spring break.
The south portion of lot 41 (north of Stout Hall) and Lot 39 (the staff lot just west of North Murray Hall) will be closed permanently.  Part of the planned construction calls for improving access to University Ave. from Wentz Lane to the west of Stout Lane. Figure (A) shows the areas that will be closed during the initial phase.  During the initial phase Stout Lane will remain open.  When the improved access is constructed, Stout Lane will be closed and the construction area will expand to include Stout Lane.  The new garage is scheduled for completion in mid-March 2013.  The garage will have four levels and occupy the current parking lots and adjoining Stout Lane.

Several changes are being made to accommodate for the construction.  Additional Res Hall parking will be available in Lot 91 to the north of University Health Services which is currently commuter student parking.  Additional commuter student parking will be available in lot 26 at the corner of Hall of Fame and Washington St.  We encourage staff to park more on the east side of campus where ample staff parking is available.  Consider lot 10 (east of Cordell), lot 15 (south of the Architecture Building and lot 32 (at the corner of University and Hester).  We are excited to add this new parking structure near the core of campus.  When complete it will be a great benefit to our students, employees and visitors.  said Steve Spradling, Director of Parking and Transit Services.
