Streetline Launches Smart Parking Program for University of Maryland

Inaugural Program Expands Streetlines Technology to Universities and Supports EV Charging Station availability
San Francisco, Calif. March 31, 2011 Streetline, Inc. today announced that the University of Maryland College Park has deployed Streetlines smart parking solutions including its free smartphone app Parker. The new sensor-based system gives visitors real-time insight about open parking spaces in select areas throughout the College Park campus including information about the availability of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.

The smart parking program was announced today at a campus event to unveil the University of Marylands new electric vehicle charging stations from Coulomb Technologies. Streetlines system has been designed to support the new systems and the universitys goal to implement technologies to reduce the environmental impact of traffic caused by student and visitor parking.

Streetlines innovative technology includes its patented smart parking platform which detects the presence of a car through a network of ultra-low power wireless sensors located in each parking space. Information from the sensors is then delivered to a suite of web and mobile applications, including Parker, Streetlines industry leading smartphone app.

Streetline is being deployed at EV charging stations select garages and lots including: Union Lane Garage, Stadium Drive Garage, Regents Garage, and between Mowatt Lane Garage and Lot U4. The free Parker app shows when an EV station parking space is available, even if the charger is not in use.  The Streetline sensors will also be deployed in metered parking spaces in select areas throughout the College Park campus.

We are excited to help the University of Maryland address their parking needs with our smart parking solutions, said Zia Yusuf, CEO of Streetline. We are proud to partner with Streetline for this inaugural smart parking program, said David Allen, Director of Transportation Services at the University of Maryland. Innovative technologies like Streetlines will be the key to making our campus more livable, cleaner, and more efficient, and we look forward to working with Streetline as we expand our efforts to make parking more convenient, while greening the commute for visitors.

The initial Streetline system is comprised of an ultra-low power mesh network of vehicle-occupancy detection sensors embedded within each parking space, as well as applications for parking policy management enabling dynamic pricing and motorist guidance systems.   The fully hosted software as a service (SaaS) platform is web based and includes 24/7 uninterrupted vehicle occupancy information.
