Tennis court? Nope that's a parking lot!

A new parking lot in downtown Phoenix is turning heads with its layer of special paint that officials said will keep the lot up to 30 degrees cooler.
Look quickly and you might think it's a tennis court. But in the middle of downtown Phoenix, there's a new parking lot that's green -- and we're not talking about the environment.

"It's quite interesting," said Emis Cox, who was walking by the new lot.

Located at 1st and Taylor streets, Phoenix contracted to have a parking lot coated with a layer of special paint that officials said will keep the parking lot up to 30 degrees cooler.

It's light green in color and it cost $100,000. But officials said it's a test run to see if it's worth spreading to other lots around the city.

The lot replaces an old Ramada Inn.

However, it's just temporary. The site is slated to become the new home for the law school for Arizona State University, which could move downtown in a few years.

Phoenix officials said the parking lot is open to the public and will open this weekend.
