2nd APCOA PARKING Mobility Summit: Which Way Forward for Urban Mobility?

- Stuttgart, Germany, EU
2nd APCOA PARKING Mobility Summit

APCOA PARKING Group, Europe's leading parking facility operator will host the 2nd APCOA PARKING Mobility Summit at the hotel Villa Kennedy in Frankfurt am Main on 23 June 2015. Headlined “Which Way Forward for Urban Mobility?”, the event will see experts from inside and outside Germany convene to discuss trends, developments, and challenges involving the mobility of tomorrow. “The summit will serve as platform for dialogue and an exchange of ideas among the various stakeholders involved,” said Ralf Bender, CEO of APCOA PARKING Group. “It is the only way for us to jointly find solution approaches to the diverse economic, social and environmental challenges to urban mobility.”

This year's summit is split into two thematic clusters, one probing “The Future of Parking: What does the Networked Parking Spot Do?” and the other focusing on “The Value-Add of Networked Parking Spaces.” Speakers will include, inter alia, Prof. Dr. Donald Shoup of the University of California in Los Angeles who will discuss “Opportunities and Threats of Dynamic Pricing” and Till Kreiler of Google Germany who will talk about “New Mobility Concepts Using Big Data.” In his lecture “From CarSharing to RideSharing,” Christian Freese of Uber Deutschland will cast light on new mobility concepts, while Kieran Fitsall of the Westminster City Council in London will brief attendees on an innovative form of on-street parking the City of Westminster uses as a smart management approach to kerbside parking.

What will the future of urban mobility look like? Which role will the smartphone and the increasingly networked traffic flow play in the equation? What kind of influence will new mobility concepts have on property owners, and in what ways do the latter stand to benefit from it? The 2nd APCOA PARKING Mobility Summit will seek to answer these and other questions while also trying to stimulate brainstorming activity. “The significance of the city as residential and economic realm is steadily increasing,” said Ralf Bender. “Parking space as integral component of the mobility chain will play a key role for the urban mobility of the future.”
