Bolidt Installs Flooring Solution at Eindhoven Airport's New Parking Facility

Eindhoven Airport’s new multifunctional parking building was opened on 1 October. The parking structure built by construction company BAM marks the first step in the transformation of the area in front of Eindhoven Airport into an attractive environment. The new multifunctional building provides space for 780 cars and includes cycle parking, a McDonald's drive-thru, and a bus station. P1 is located right across from the terminal building. Bolidt developed, produced and installed the car park flooring in the color scheme desired by the architect.

The P1 building was designed by local practice De Bever Architects. The architect chose a flowing form, matching the forms of the terminal and the adjacent Tulip Inn hotel. The design is, therefore, a perfect fit for the available space and multifunctionality of the building. For Eindhoven Airport, bringing P1 into operation is an important step in the development of the airport area. The upgrade is consistent with its strategy to drive a transition from quantity to quality. Eindhoven Airport thus moves in line with the surrounding Brainport region that invests in quality in various areas.

As in earlier car park construction projects, such as Vredenburg car park in Utrecht, contractor BAM worked together with Bolidt on P1 at Eindhoven Airport. The three lower levels were fitted with the widely used Boligrip 300 flooring system, which is resistant to high traffic loads. The top deck was covered with a flexible and watertight Bolidt floor finish in compliance with NEN 1062-7, because this deck is exposed to direct sunlight. The specialist installation was, as always, carried out by Bolidt’s own application teams.

By thoroughly thinking through the construction planning and design with BAM beforehand, the design of the flooring systems fits in perfectly with the color scheme of the rest of the multifunctional building.
