Boston Logan Grows Economy with New Lot

No one likes to have to hunt for parking when they are trying to catch a flight, said Ed Freni, Director of Aviation. We hope the garage eliminates that stress and we wanted to make sure the permanent spaces were available before the holidays.

The new two-deck economy parking garage is located where the open air Economy Lot was, in the North Cargo area of the airport at the intersection of Service Road and Prescott Street. Parking is competitively priced at $18 a day or $108 a week. Garage construction started in July and Massport anticipates another 1,000 spaces will be ready in December and all 3,000 spaces to be available for use in early 2011.

The garage will not only enhance customer service, but it is expected to reduce vehicle miles traveled and associated air emissions because the scattered overflow lots will be used with less frequency. Solar panels on the roof of the garage will provide 12 percent of the energy needs for the facility, which uses energy efficient LED lighting throughout. The garage will be served by CNG-powered courtesy Massport shuttle buses that will go to all airport terminals.
