How Indianapolis fixed its parking problems

Reason.TV has produced a video on the Indianapolis parking improvement project

- Indianapolis, Indiana, US

Greg Ballard, the Mayor of Indianapolis, is enthusiastically speaking on the immense improvements to the parking operation they have experienced since installing the pay-by-space, receipt-less MPC terminal from Cale.

The new parking meter program managed by ParkIndy created a very strong infrastructure fund for the city through privatization. Prior to the system upgrade, the city took in less than $100,000 in coin revenue per year, yet earned $1.4 million in the first year of operation under the new system.

"They are making a profit.  The city is getting more money. What is wrong with that picture?", asks Mayor Ballard.

Cale GroupInterviewed is also Matthew Darst, Parking and Safety Solutions, Xerox. "We operate and manage the system, everything from meter collections to meter maintenance", commented Darst, who heads up the ParkIndy group.

There have also been noticeable improvements in enforcement, compliance, customer service and meter uptimes, which contribute greatly to the increased revenues and high satisfaction rates by the public. Cale America is providing an innovative help desk services program for ParkIndy with real-time maintenance tracking and dispatching, plus enforcement is conducted citywide using the Cale WebOffice mobile enforcement page.
