City of Santa Monica Launches New Mobile Parking Map
The City of Santa Monica has launched a new mobile-friendly parking map that provides real-time parking availability for the citys 33 downtown and beach parking facilities. Users can now find real time parking information using any mobile phone with an Internet connection.
Through GPS technology, the site automatically centers the map to a users current location and displays which nearby lots have available spaces and which lots are full. The hope is that by allowing motorists to more quickly find parking, cars will spend less time on city streets and visitors can spend more time enjoying the citys beaches, restaurants and shopping.
The mobile parking map is part of a larger mobile website coming this spring where users will find information about city services and facilities, the City Council, and links to a variety of other resources in addition to the real time parking information.
