Emden/Eemshaven: From the ferry direct to your parking space

The Dutch sea port of Eemshaven lies on the Ems estuary and as well as acting as a centre for the transhipment of goods, it is also home to the ferry service to the islands of Borkum and Helgoland.
During the last year DESIGNA was awarded a contract to install a PM ABACUS system in the ferry car park area. Now the system is to be extended to the covered indoor parking spaces.

The major features of this project are the individual tariff structures and the ability to pay parking charges on board AG EMS shipping lines ferries. PM ABACUS automatic pay stations, on which the parking fees for both the German and Dutch ports can be paid in advance, are installed on the three passenger ships that travel between Emden and Eemshaven. Thanks to the fact that the PM ABACUS system can be configured individually, the operators are able to charge different tariffs for each port.

Thanks to our networked PM ABACUS system, passengers are offered an exceptional service, because once the ferry has docked, they can leave the car park with their ticket already paid for without having to make a diversion, says DESIGNAs sales manager, Marten Jentsch. The port of Emden has also relied on DESIGNA technology for a number of years.
