EasyPark to Expand into Swiss Market in 2019

EasyPark Group today announced plans to expand Europe’s leading smart parking service to Switzerland next year.

The announcement comes after EasyPark won the top position in Zurich’s public tender to create an open market with three mobile paid parking (MPP) providers. This will cement Zurich as the first major city in Switzerland with an open market approach.

The issues of quality and security were prioritised when considering all seven valid submissions in the tender, according to Zurich Municipality. Therefore, EasyPark is set to provide both its HUB and MPP services as part of its Swiss launch.

According to the European Parking Association, Switzerland has the lowest ratio of publicly accessible parking.

EasyPark Group CEO, Johan Birgersson is thrilled to be launching in such an important European market.

Zurich is really leading the way in a push for digitalisation and EasyPark has the prospect to create real change in this area. As well as making the lives of drivers easier, we are very much looking forward to being an integral part of creating smarter cities in Switzerland and Zurich is just the beginning,” he said.

As part of their mission to improve urban mobility in Zurich, EasyPark will also provide access to their Find & Park and Parking Dashboard innovations.

Incoming Country Director of EasyPark Switzerland, Maurus Haefliger, says EasyPark Group is already looking at providing further functionality for the Swiss market.

I am delighted to be heading up EasyPark’s operations in Switzerland. As a forward-thinking company responding to the needs of forward-thinking markets like Switzerland, we must continue to lead innovation locally. In Switzerland the distribution of electric cars is above average, so we are already planning on offering EV charging outlets in the future,” he said.

EasyPark’s Swiss launch is expected to take place in Q1 2019.
