Hectronics USA and Liberty Plugins announce electric vehicle charging station partnership
Hectronic USA, a worldwide provider of full service parking pay stations, and Liberty PlugIns, Inc. (LPI), developer of non-network secure access systems for electric vehicle service equipment, today announced a technology partnership that enables Hectronic pay stations to perform the billing portion of an electric vehicle (EV) charge transaction without the need for any direct contact with the charging station.

Cities already invest significant amounts of money in their parking revenue systems. This approach permits them to leverage that investment and exercise complete control over their charging revenues in a very cost effective manner.
Under the terms of the agreement, Hectronic USA will add LPIs Synchronous Codes technology to their system architecture. Pay stations will generate a charging authorization code that is printed on the customers receipt. The driver returns to his or her vehicle, connects the charging cord and enters the code into the charger. The charging process automatically ceases when either the vehicle is fully charged or the charging time purchased has expired.

Utilizing these systems to control electric vehicle chargers is the logical next step in any well thought out parking access and revenue control system.
