Jerry Wentzel of DKS Receives IPI Award of Merit for Sarasota Palm Avenue Parking Garage

As a part of a design-build team, DKS developed functional design plans for a five-level garage that includes parking spaces for 743 autos, 35 motorcycles and 92 bicycles.

The ground floor was designed with 11,000 sf of retail stores along the Palm Avenue frontage and a 14-foot height clearance to permit high vehicle and van parking. The one-way circulation plan developed by DKS minimizes circulation conflicts and facilitates parking space search patterns. The provision for a reversible access gate and traffic lane on the ramp to the second floor accommodates peak parking traffic volumes for special downtown events.
