Founded in 1981, the University of Macau (UM) was the predecessor of the private University of East Asia. It was officially renamed University of Macau in 1991 as a public university. Through the years of development, UM has become a leading and the only public comprehensive university in Macao. Currently, UM ranks 301-350th in the world, 9th globally for International Outlook, and 37th in Asia.
There are seven underground car parks on campus with the capacity to accommodate around 2,400 light vehicles and 840 motorcycles, according to the Security & Transport Section of MU. There are four visitor car parks, open to visitors, students and staff. Additionally, there are three staff car parks, open to staff and staff residents. In order to allow for parkers to find their cars easily, and to supply a better user experience, UM has chosen to use a centralized management system for some of their underground car parking.
JIESHUN's parking guidance system (PGS) has been implemented in two of the car parks, “Staff Car Park P4” and “Resident Car Park P7”. JIESHUN has further supplied 1600 integrated ultrasonic sensors for corresponding parking spaces. The fitted sensors are cost-effective, as they are an all in one sensor, combining both an ultrasonic detector and an LED indicator. The use of these detectors also guarantees double detection and the simplification of on-site implementation makes it easy for engineers. For improved guidance information showcasing, JIESHUN has installed 60 indoor wayfinding parking signs for these car parks. This allows for quicker guidance of parkers to unoccupied bays within the car park. Furthermore, parking space counting is supported even during offline-mode.
