Lemminkäinen to build the interior of the P-Hämppi parking facility in Tampere

Lemminkäinen has been awarded the interior construction contract for the P-Hämppi parking facility in Tampere, Finland. The contract is a natural extension to the facility's excavation and reinforcement construction, which Lemminkäinen started in autumn 2009. Work will begin in June 2011, and the parking facility will be completed at the end of September 2012. The contract is worth approximately EUR 23 million.

The P-Hämppi parking facility, located under Hämeenkatu between Suomen Pankin aukio and Pakkahuoneen aukio, will comprise 971 parking spaces. The client is Finnpark Oy.

The P-Hämppi project will be a further example of Lemminkäinen's specialist expertise in infrastructure construction. The contract comprises, among other things, concrete and foundation construction, surfacing and tensioning.

Lemminkäinen has been constructing underground parking facilities and civil defence shelters since the 1970s. Lemminkäinen is also currently engaged in the construction of an underground parking facility and civil defence shelter in Töölönlahti, Helsinki. In addition to these underground facilities, Lemminkäinen recently started the construction of a two-level car park with 720 parking spaces in Hämeenlinna.
