Exact Counting on Ramps and at Cross-sections of Car Parks and Underground Parking

MobiliSis MagSense

Inexact counting on ramps and at cross-sections in car parks and underground parking facilities is a thing of the past. The MagSense magnetic field sensors system ensures exact counting along with simplest installation.

Mobilisis has expanded its portfolio concerning the detection of single parking spaces by the MagSense 3DTC traffic counter. MagSense 3DTC is perfectly suitable to count vehicles on ramps and at cross-sections of car parks and underground parking facilities

The technologies used so far like ultrasonic sound and light barriers have a high and therefore unacceptable error rate due to passing pedestrians, baggage carts (airport), dirt, vibrations, wind etc.. None of these influences play a role regarding detection with MagSense. The system runs absolutely stable at minimum maintenance effort.

Its functioning is downright simple and brilliant. MagSense detects the passing vehicles through the carriageway. Since the sensors only react to ferromagnetic material, the above-mentioned influences do not affect its extremely high accuracy of detection. Above all, the sensitiveness of the sensors can be modified after their installation. Detection by MagSense is accurate, if measured through reinforced-concrete floors as well as steel floors.

Equally simple is the installation of the sensor system. The sensors can either be mounted directly to the ceiling or they are laid in pre-installed empty conduits. This kind of installation bears the advantage that the basic structures of the building, in particularly the carriageway, will not be damaged.

Data transmission can directly be linked to dynamic signposting or to a parking management system. It can be effected alternatively via GPRS, CAN, RS485, RS232 or Ethernet.

Hereby, data transmission via GPRS has the advantage of clearly reduced installation costs since the data cabling of the system can be omitted completely.

MobiliSis offers interested customers individual, selected components but also a complete system from one source, which works fully independently, including the magnetic field sensor system, parking management and dynamic signposting.

The above-described system has been installed by MobiliSis at the Airport Cologne-Bonn, in P3, its largest car park. This car park has more than 6,500 parking spaces, arranged on 8 floors. Especially in such large facilities it is very important that passengers are informed quickly on the number and location of the last vacant parking spaces. The information they get is based on the counts on ramps (between the floors) as well as at cross-sections (between the sectors of a floor). Here, data is transmitted via GPRS and a. o. to a dynamic sign indicating the vacant parking spaces.
