Mobile phone parking payment

The solution is based on the Parkfolio e-Ticket parking ticket platform developed by Parkeon and the Paybyphone mobile payment service provided by the partner company MPS.
The Parkfolio e-Ticket parking ticket platform carries out the task of electronic parking ticket server, like similar devices that are used in the areas of rail and land transport. It is interconnected to the various parts of the electronic ticket sale infrastructure used - Paybyphone service for mobile phones, Internet and counters.

The parking ticket platform takes account of the parking tariffs, issues electronic tickets, provides information for vehicle inspection and that required for financial and statistical tracking.

Tariffs

The platform is used for setting up the parking tariffs defined by the different towns using the system - price per hour, differentiation by geographical zone, time slot, day, type of user etc. These tariff conditions are the same for all payment methods, including Pay & Display machines, mobile phones, the Internet and counter sales.

Issuing of electronic tickets

In the operating condition, the platform receives parking requests made by mobile phone and sent by the Paybyphone service and those sent via the Internet or from a sales counter.

In response to each request, the platform generates an electronic ticket with the charges due and the parking expiry date and time. The information is then sent, as the case may be, to the Paybyphone service for sending on to the user and for accepting the payment, or to the Internet and counter sales infrastructure. Once the payment is made, the electronic ticket is validated and saved in the platform database.

Inspection of mobile phone parking payments

The database with issued electronic tickets can be accessed in real time for inspecting the payment of parking in the field. The enforcement agents have handheld terminals of the PDA type that are connected through a mobile network to the ticketing platform. The wardens enter the registration number of the vehicle to inspect into the device. After the entry and after accessing the records of valid tickets in the ticketing platform, the terminals indicate whether or not payment has been made.

Financial and statistical management

The ticketing platform sends all the electronic ticket data reported by the various devices in the sales infrastructure to the Parkfolio overall parking information system for tracking the revenue collected and for producing usage statistics.

The Parkfolio information system also processes the data relating to payments made into the Pay & Display machines, so as to produce financial statistical statements that consolidate receipts from the entire sales infrastructure, including its tangible and non-tangible elements.
