ParkNOW! Expands in New Jersey by Launching Pay by Cell Parking in South Orange and Maplewood Together with Metric Group

This week MobileNOW LLC, a leading US provider of Pay by Cell parking services under the service name ParkNOW!™, launches Pay by Cell payments for parking at NJ Transit train stations in South Orange, NJ, and Maplewood, NJ, together with Metric Group Inc. Finally commuters will be able to pay for parking while hurrying to catch a train without making a detour to a meter.

All of us know how it feels when we are facing a choice of either getting a parking ticket or missing a train to work. ParkNOW! enables drivers to forego both of the above mentioned options. Just use ParkNOW!’s smart phone appliation or automatic service number to start, stop and extend a parking session, as well as pay for it with just a few taps on the cell phone. It is fast and easy, and can be done on the go. Never again will commuters  have to stand in line to pay the meter.

Commuters in South Orange may choose between an automated service number and ParkNOW! smartphone app for parking payments.

In Maplewood, QR codes will also be available for smartphone users. QR (Quick Response) code is a 2-dimensional bar code developed by Denso Inc., a subsidiary of Toyota. A QR code is readable by dedicated QR barcode readers and camera phones. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded can be text, URL or other data. Thanks to its format it can store significantly more information than traditional barcodes. ParkNOW! is a pioneer in applying QR codes to pay for parking. Scanning the code with ParkNOW! app will prefill the information, thus making it even faster to pay for parking.

ParkNOW! app is available for free at iTunes and Google Play / Android Market.

Once parked by cell phone, the system sends an automatic notification to Metric’s Aslan database about the transaction. Thus enforcement of cell phone parking sessions takes place through Metric’s Aslan back-end. The enforcement handhelds receive data on all parking sessions regardless whether they were initiated at the meter or by cell.
