Passport successfully enters the transit market, drops “parking” from its name

customized, native applications by Passport

Passport has deployed its mobile solutions throughout the US and Canada and has pioneered the process of creating payment solutions that allow parking operators to provide best-in-class technology to their customers without sacrificing control of their brands. Prior to Passport, only off-the-shelf and vendor-branded applications were available to agencies looking to add additional payment options. Applications like “ParkChicago” and “ParkVictoria” have allowed these municipalities to not only brand its systems, but also customize the user experience into native applications.

Building on its expertise in private-label solutions and mobile payment processing, Passport has started to expand its technology into transit solutions and other urban mobility verticals. As a company that specializes in bringing other brands to the forefront, we soon realized that our own brand was misrepresenting our goals as a company.

We attended our first transit show this year and realized that the name ‘PassportParking’ was obscuring the breadth of our technology platform. ,” said Charlie Youakim, Managing Partner. “By slimming our name down to just ‘Passport’ we can more effectively bring solutions to market in new industries like transit and payment processing.

This recent shift has already been a successful one. Passport has experienced early success in the transit market and in payment processing. A successful mobile ticketing pilot for the Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority has led to a full system rollout scheduled for Q1 2015 in Columbia, SC, and Passport is gearing up to launch the first ever all-city application servicing city-wide on-street parking and bus payments in Tucson, AZ.

2014 has been a banner year for Passport,” said Khristian Gutierrez, Managing Partner, “We’re thrilled to share our vision of our mobile payment platforms that extend beyond the parking industry, into ‘all-city’ applications. We’re finding that as more municipal agencies adopt mobile solutions, the need to create greater efficiency and convenience across multiple modes of transportation payments is very real and completely unmet by previous solutions. Our first transit service installations have been a home-run and we’re looking forward to many more in 2015.
