Lemont, IL Becomes Latest Municipality to Bring Mobile Payments to Parking

The Village of Lemont, a suburb of Chicago, to implement mobile parking payments with PassportParking

Lemont, IL

Change is coming to parking in Lemont, but it won’t involve coins. The Village of Lemont announced today that beginning October 1st, parking customers can now pay for their parking with their mobile phones. The service, PassportParking, lets users pay for parking through a mobile app, mobile web application, or an automated voice system. This launch partners the Village of Lemont with Charlotte, NC-based PassportParking and Chicago, IL-based Total Parking Solutions.

"Passport Mobile Pay is great for both parking customers and the Village of Lemont,” said Joe Smith, President & Co-Owner of Total Parking Solutions. "Paying for parking becomes easier for the customer and when paying is easier, more people will park in Village lots. These are the kind of win-win relationships Total Parking Solutions loves providing to the Chicago area."

Once parked, drivers will have the option to pay using the PassportParking app, mobile website, or by calling the local toll free number. To pay, drivers will enter the zone and space number listed on signage and then select how long they wish to stay.

To utilize the new service, customers must first register for free via the PassportParking app, online, or by calling the local number listed on the PassportParking signage. Customers can even register with just the push of a button using Facebook.

While the meter won’t show the time remaining, customers will not have to display any proof of payment as enforcement agents can view payments through a wireless handheld device.
The mobile pay service is offered by Charlotte, NC-based PassportParking, Inc. Passport currently operates in over 17 Chicago suburbs, including Evanston, Oak Lawn, Skokie, and Oak Park. The company also developed ParkChicago, Chicago’s mobile parking payment application.

"Our team is excited to be partnering with the Village to improve the parking experience for parkers in Lemont," said Michael Rafferty, Operations Manager at PassportParking. "Like a rolling stone, Lemont is the latest Chicagoland suburb to see that offering simplicity and convenience through mobile payments is a win-win for the Village and the parker."
