Redland offsite secure car park to proceed

Nearly 300 island residents say theyre interested in taking a guaranteed parking bay at the proposed offsite, secure car park to be linked by shuttle bus to and from the Weinam Creek ferry terminal.
Based on this level of community interest, Council has now committed funds to selecting and acquiring the most suitable site for the offsite car in the next twelve months.

Once the offsite car park is secured, people who have registered their interest will be given more detailed information and asked to confirm their intention by paying a small deposit. We have received many useful comments about the new guaranteed car park and will take them into consideration, said Gary Stevenson, Redland City Council CEO.

Council will continue to take registrations for the proposed offsite car park on a first come first served basis and establish a waiting list if necessary. Registration forms and FAQs are on Councils website at www.redland.qld.gov.au.

Mayor Melva Hobson also said the new public gravel car park for 124 cars that has been under construction at Meissner St, Redland Bay re-opened on 24th February.

Some minor asphalt works to the entrance are to be completed soon, weather permitting. In the meantime, Council also has several parking bays on offer in the main parking compound at Weinam Creek. For more information, contact 3829 8537.

The offsite secure car park is one of a range of parking options proposed for the Weinam Creek ferry terminal that will allow users to choose their preferred parking arrangements. This includes open permit, casual and free parking.
